My EURO Trip October 2013

Post by flighter »

Huh... an oversized guy next to me. Common sense says that if we pay the same fare, we are entitled to the same space. But hell no... While he was awake that was relatively manageable, but later on he was poking my ribs with his elbow, entering my airspace (lol)... SInce he was a nice guy (polite and all) I didn't grab him by the neck, lol...

Then, a lady behind me... There was a problem with the her touchscreen, it was not responding, and she would often press the screen, pushing my seat enough to wake me up. Then, when SHE was asleep, and I was watching something, she complained to me about the light disturbing her sleep... I tuned it down for 20 minutes but brought it back to the normal level afterwards, lol...

After landing, I was out and with my baggage in under 15 minutes, my personal record for any airport. Cops just asked me where I am going and for how long, I told them, they stamped my passport and I was out.

After geting off the train in the city center, I kinda forgot the direction to the hotel (which I am falimiar with!), so instead of 5 to max. 10 minutes walk, I made it in 30 minutes... It was still early morning, around 6:30 to 7AM.

I arrived to the hotel but, sadly, they had no rooms available for that day (I the office in a hurry yesterday forgetting to make a reservation!), so I walked to the next one which is not as good as my preferred hotel, but a nice lady at the reception promissed to find me a room, they were fully booked too. Someone cancelled their booking and within some 45 minutes I had my room key. They did not charge me extra for early booking (they start the check-in at 3PM and I arrived some 7 hours early).

Rooms are neat and clean, internet is reasonably fast (slow, lol), fridge bar items are, as usual, insanely expensive, and there is no amenities like coffee maker and such, but hey, it could be worse, I would be sleeping in the park instead, so this is great.

I was thirsty, but not THAT thirsty. One is the ordinary, and the other is sparkling water (prices in EUR)

Oh :oh:

As far as I know from my own experience stuff like coffee machine, water boiler, microwave ar not common in german hotels.

This water is muhc too expensive (I usually take tub water, but back in the south in TO it so much chlorine in it it would only be used as pool water here).

Well, I can survive some chlorinated water for 2 days... especially if it is 3.30 EUR per bottle. I will rather buy some toy for my kids for 6.60 EUR, lol. Or overfeed myself with pizza :D

To overfeed yourself with pizza 6,60 won't be enough. :hoho:

I've never been to one (nor is there one here in town), but I prefer 'good' over 'cheap' anyway.

What Elyris said... I avoid buying drinks from those hotel fridges, due to prices close to robbery. For what they ask for a simple bottle of water you can buy a whole sixpack in the next grocery store.

And things like coffee machines ain't really common here. The first microwave in a hotel room I saw was in Toronto.
