Here we go again.

Forgetting to open the window over night is also a bad thing.

'Morning.

Wow, the summer is going by fast. August already? In a few months it will be time to switch my car back to its snow tires.

Saw a good movie last week on Blu-ray - The Greatest Showman. Amazing cinematograpy and choreography.

Argh, my render just crashed. Time to get back to work.

Your what?

And whe nyou're 'grown up' times always goes by fast - as does your 'life'. No surprises there.

Eh ... don't remind me of cars, I think I have to go to TÜV this October.

@ Elyris:
"My render crashed" explained:

The TV show I work on shoots with an Alexa Pro-Res digital camera and sends in the footage that they shot (called the "dailies") in on Sony SXS memory cards. I have to upload those video files to our server (which holds over 3000 Terabytes) apply colour correction in a program called Resolve and render out the color corrected footage in a lower resolution (720p) file format for the editor. I usually get about 300GB of dailies which takes about a 1/2 hour to render. The render crashed (in this case dropped a frame of video) and I had to re-start it just before the point of the crash.

Once the footage is rendered out, I load it into another software program to sync up the audio for each video clip, and then render it out again as .mov quicktime files that get sent to editorial.

That's the job that I work at about 20hrs a week, and spend every other waking moment working on the special effects makeup stuff for the company that Atokirina and I started 4 years ago.

I understand. Sounds a bit fiddly though. But who am I to speak with that hollow mess of work I got now. I really wanted to do science.

Morning :)
Back in... gee, I'm sunburned (lotion was empty after half the time and no chance to get that special one there - I have an allergy and can't use every sunscreen avalable, need to buy in the pharmacy), have been a feast to a whole population of different insects and of course every single muscle in my body went sour... but it was AWESOME!!!
I know for sure though why I took today off as well. One, to catch up my sleep and second to do all that laundry awaitime me here...

Hey - nice you like it.

The way it sounds I wouldn't be as happy, for sure.

I wish I could take a day off- the trip will cost me half of the weekend.

Good luck with that trip!

My trip: Yeah, you have to like it, I can tell any number of people who wouldn't either... camping out in the middle of nowhere with only rudimentary civilization in reach ain't for anyone, that's true.

Thanks.

9 hours of sitting in a train in close quarters ain't fun, I tell ya. (We're in Bonn for a .. uh.. Schulung)

Well - for me it's mostly because of the spiders. I don't need (much) civilisation.

'Morning.

Looks like lots of us were getting away on little trips. We went to my uncle's cottage on the lake (Ontario has over 200,000 lakes) for the weekend in Northern Ontario. The weather was perfect, and the lake was 28C. It was warmer than a swimming pool. Found an all natural insect repellant at a farmer's market that actually works and smells nice too. It was a nice relaxing weekend (the kids went to their mom's place as they didn't want to be without WiFi for a whole weekend). And we couldn't believe how many stars we could see in the night sky - you could actually see the milky parts of the milky way with no city lights around. I forgot how dark it can get at night when you are away from any cities.

But now it's back home and back to work. We're busy getting ready for Fan Expo at the end of the month. It's the biggest pop culture convention in Canada with over 120,000 people attending, so we hope to sell lots of prosthetics and props and do lots of makeups on people. Then we're into the Halloween season, so last weekend was our last days off until November.

Oh yeah, the stars... that was awesome where I went to too. Where I'm living it's still close enough to the airport to have some serious light pollution, so you never get a really dark sky. Not as dark as in the place I was last week. It's been a while since I actually could see the milky way that way. Beautiful.
Your weekend sounds nice too, by the way. I could have used the lake as well as that insect repellant :-P

@Elyris: Okay, there were a good lot of spiders, that's true and you can't really keep them from coming into your tent.

Morning :)

Evening.

It was 10 hours ad 45 minutes today! I really hope tomorrow will be shorter. Even if it were the interesting (which it isn't the slightest bit!) this woukd be waaaay too long for sitting in a badly aired room listening to people.

And someone closed the windows in my tiny tiny hotel room.

I feel underpaid to go thourgh such an ordeal.

It's also getting significantly hotter and more humid again.

F my life. :whatever:
