To be honest: I don't really care about 3D at all. The content quality of the movie is the most important, cinematography (including well done CGI and other effects), but 3D or even IMAX ? Not that important at all.

I watched Avatar first in good 'ol regular 2Dw - didn't take from the experience and was just as magical.

It depends on the movie. I think 3D was a big part of the Avatar experience (floating Atokirina, flight scenes for example), but it wouldn't have worked if the movie itself wouldn't have had it's very own magic.
I've seen a few other 3D movies since then and for some it worked and for others 3D wouldn't have been necessary at all.

Morning :)

Well - I think I'm rather old school on that then too.

I agree with Kiy on this one. If the story of the movie and the production are crap, 3D or no 3D, it is still crap. But, if the story and the production are good, 3D just adds more magic. 3D is not the replacement for otherwise good story, just an addition to it.

Never said anything else. The content, the story of the movie are what counts, 3D or not. But if the movie is good I do not need 3D at all. In most cases it only adds to the pricetag of the ticket and that's it. Since 3D came out I haven't watched a single movie where I would say wholeheartedly that 3D made it much better. I guess I am not fit forthe 'future' world , as i just can't seethe point in all of this. It's still just a technical plaything to me.

To me, the story itself IS the most important. But a proper 3D (no, not just any 3D which even I have t home, but IMAX 3D with some 10,000 pixels wide screen) gives the viewer the feeling like he is not at the cinema but, rather, right there on Pandora.

Afternoon :)

Brought the laptop to the garage (and crossing my fingers the competent dude there will fix it before the weekend .... because of course stuff liek that always happens on the verge of weekends or holidays >_> ).
I'm back at my moms now, typing on the old laptop (which is slower and much older) - I hope it holds up for the most important things.

Do you have the bridge-day off? Do you have the holiday next week?

Anf flighter? Is there a free day around the 31st/1st for you ?

We have the 31st off this year, usually there's no holiday in my county.
But I actually do have a whole week of vacation, starting today - yay! I'm sooooo overdue for some time off!

Well, it's the usual 30 days of vacation - and the last "real" one has been end of June, everything else were just a day here and a day there.
Not travelling this time, just a bit of chilling around.

And congrats to the working laptop!

Morning :)

Chilling around is always good :)

It might sound weird - but I really crave a vacation too (being at home is just something different than actually going somewhere).

I still wait for the year in which I can actually prepare something for Samhain. It somehow never comes to that ... times always moving too fast (plus: with practically none resources to pull decorations and such from it's not making it any easier).

Yeah, I know what you mean about "going somewhere" is different than just staying at home. There weren't any major travels this year (for financial reasons) and I was already grateful for the weekend larp trips I did. It was at least something away from the usual treadmill.
