Oh - I had such neighbours (also living above me) once. Only that it was a continuously sawing, drilling and hammering for months unti lthey moved out (not without throwing the furniture out of the window first).
The flats at your place have to be bought?

That was exactly what they did today... at least that's what it sounded like.
They're taking out everything: Bathroom tiles, tub, all the floor tiles, kitchen tiles, the built in hallway closet.
Sitting in the office now. If the ceiling comes down at least I won't be home.

They're all "Eigentumswohnungen"; owned by private people, not a real estate company or something. Part of them are rented to other people (like the one I'm living in), partly the owners live there themselves.
Actually I can't blame the new owners - if it was me I'd probably make a complete renovation myself before moving in (the hallway tiles are absolutely ugly and whoever thought that white floor tiles in the kitchen are a good idea makes me wonder if they ever actually
used their own kitchen), so everything is exactly the way they want to have it. It just sucks that it happens right above me.

1. All windows tightly closed. CHECK
2. All internal doors open. CHECK
3. Gas leakage alarm disabled. CHECK.
4. Candle at the opposite end of the apartment from the kitchen lit. CHECK.
5. All gas burners in the kitche open without ignition. CHECK.
Now exit through the front door and leave the building ASAP. RUN!!!!!!!!!

Spoiler: Mmmmhm - I'd still stick to the biological weapons... I mean, blowing up the place has the disadvantage that my flat would be in ruins too. And I'm kinda done with moving for the next few years.

On Saturday morning two weeks ago when I was at work I recognized a small 'bumb' on my head - somewhere slightly left and about a finger wide above my right ear. I didn't thought much of it. On Monday it was still there and started itching a bit, so I asked my mom to try and have a look at it and she said it looks like a pimple.
The Thursday of that week it became clear that something was honestly wrong, whatever it was it started to .. uhh .. 'wet' and my hari started to kind of glue together from that liquid. So on Friday (more or less one week after it started) I went to the doctor and she perscriptet me Iod for desinfection and an antimycotica as she concluded it looked like a fungal infection of my skin with a bacterial secondary infection. So I took the meds and on Sunday it seemed a bit better but on Monday evening it had gotten really bad again and I could tell it was spreading. So early this morning ,despite having an appointment for Thursday, I went to he doc again. This time her son was around and look with a mixture of shock and confusion on that thing.
He prescripted an ointment and said if it was about to work we would knoe that it was a certain kind of fungus and I should definately come back on Thursday.
When I came home I first cut my hair really short and befoe dinner I decided to shave it off ... and simsalabim I found a few more 'leisions'.
What ever it is by now it has spread over the right side of my scalp and along the hairline of my neck - to the left of my neck as well as to the right under my chin and behind my ear. It's burning and itching like mad and ot top it off the skin around my lips looks like it's developing na excema, my linps are so dry and inflammated they are breaking and bleeding (this morning they were like glues together and it took tons of warm water and patience to fix that) and the skin directly around my eyes also started to display a weird demanor - looking dry, irritated and just not good at all.
If this continues like that I'll me patient zero of the upcoming Zombie-Apocalypse.
And I even have to go on a buiseness trip neyt week.
Right now life really sucks.

Thing is: I really have to go. There are some last samples to be worked through and more importantly: on Friday is a seminar in Hannover that I have to visit. The only put up such a thing every 2 months and I need 9 all in all and I think I got like 5 ? (can't find the sheet now). So I will never make it in time already. In addition every semester in Hannover costs me nearly 400 bucks without giving me anything.
How will I be able to manage this ?
I am feeling very much done.

*waves to Nawm* Hey there.
I would suggest refraining from hugs though -it seems ot be quite infectious and now all of my head and a good part of my face is covered in iodine ... hooray.
While the dermatologist wasn't all too excited about seeing me, my usual doc was totall shocked to see my sorry state, as it had gone much much worse since she last saw me on Friday and even much worse since her son saw me on Tuesday.
I am staying home next week and got 4 different meds (one of them for whatever is ruining the skin around my eyes and makes my lips look kinda zombie-like due to all that dead skin ... side effect: sometimes I sound like Hannibal Lecter in his mask while speaking as I can't open my lips properly).
I hope the antibiotics will work.

I know, it's just a minor issue... but I'm starting to get really get worn down by that renovation thing upstairs. Ooookay - I can live with the fact that there's no working from home at the moment (who's paying me the extra money for gas, by the way?). I can live with the occasional dirt in the hallway and on the stairs. I can even live with the occasional sound coming from upstairs in the evenings or at the weekends.
But drilling holes in walls on a Saturday morning at 8:30, that's almost too much. I've had a crappy day yesterday, my head's exploding anyway and I was really needing a quiet and peaceful morning
