Well, one advantage of Avatar 2 release date being pushed one year forward is... My kids, or at least my son, will be old enough to understand what is happening :)

Ok, so here I am, posting in this thread a full year after posting that Avatar 2's release was being postponed to Dec. 2017, with the unfortunate news that FOX has pushed back the release date even further to 2018 to avoid competing with a new Star Wars film in December 2017.

I'm not sure about the source or if it's really gonna happen this time... we Avatards have heard and read too much of that already, but there actually seem to be release dates out. Maybe. I'm gonna believe in that when I'm sitting in the theater...

For the next movie wil just as well imagine ourselves sitting in the theatre with our grandchildren, all wrinkly and grey, reminiscing how we watched the first one when we were still young.

Ah, there is another thing... Even 2020 is not guaranteed. Maybe there will be another blockbuster which companies don't want to interfere with (Star Wars?!)...
There is too much politics in movies production these days. How many of the original Avatar fans will even remember what Avatar was about when the part 2 is released?!

I am just in the mood to rant. Sorry.

Come 2020, Fox is going to have to run one hell of a promotional campaign to get the general public excited about Avatar again after an 11 year gap between films. At least the Disney park is bringing Avatar back into the public minds again.

The Flight of Passage ride is being called the most immersive ride ever by fans and non-fans alike. And with 1000's of people from all over the world visiting Disney's Pandora each day, its built-it publicity for the next movie. The haters love to hate on Avatar, but i think general curiosity as to "ok, lets see what we had to wait 11 years for" will bring the first wave of people to the theatre, and their raving after having their minds blown again will get others to the theatre. The original Avatar had a slow start and snowballed. I originally only went to see it because it was a James Cameron movie with Sigorney Weaver in it.

And the rest, as they say, is history....

Well, 3 movies in one go will take some time. Still, 11 years of wait :whatever:

I am thinking again... IMDB reveals a lot but not who the composer for the sequel(s) will be... Any idea, any of you?

I said it before, I'll say it again: Ramin Djawadi. Composed Game of Thrones and Westworld as well as the first Pacific Rim and I really like what I hear (especially considering that the musical themes are already there for the most part and it's a lot about working along those lines now).

I also find the work Mclaine Diemer and Lena Chapelle did on the Guild Wars 2 Heart of Thornes OST to be fantastic.

I suppose it was inevitable that The Most Delayed Movie Production in Modern History would not be affected by the COVID-19 virus, but it is very sad that we'll have to wait another year. At least JC wrote us a nice letter about it, not to mention his promise from last week that it's going to look EPIC!

https://amp.cinemablend.com/news/255083 ... quels-look

The new release dates are as follows:
AVATAR 2 previously dated on 12/17/21 moves to 12/16/22
AVATAR 3 previously dated on 12/22/23 moves to 12/20/24
AVATAR 4 previously dated on 12/19/25 moves to 12/18/26
AVATAR 5 previously dated on 12/17/27 moves to 12/22/28

Only 1 year, 4 months and 19 days to go. :hoho:

If I am not wrong, it was 1 year, 4 months and 19 days until the original release date, now add one more year to that :(
