Yesterday night in the main evening news (and I mean THE main evening news on your classical first channel konservative programme) this happened:

That's just about right. One doesn't need to break out in tears or play on big emotions when something simple and honest is just what is needed.

American Drivers. Dumb and getting dumber.

Today in Kentucky and Tennessee, there were some rather bad thunderstorms. Especially in Kentucky where at times, visibility was about the hood of your vehicle. Now I can not "UNDERSTAND" why we have idiots whose damn fingers are so uncoordinated that they "CAN NOT" turn on their lights.

And some won't slow down for the conditions. Well, one person slowed.....all the way to "ZERO" mph when they slammed into the concrete barrier.

And we put a man on the moon. Really? Isn't driving a car simpler? easier?

To be honest there actually was less modern computer technology and in the moon lander than in any new car.

True that.

Although I'm afraid that kind of drivers ain't limited to the US. There's been more than one occasion on the highway here when I was thinking the exactly same thing: What's so frickin difficult in switching on your lights and adjust your speed to the weather?

Such level of idiotism on the roads is not specific for US roads, lol...

Bogo should come to Nigeria, I can house him for some time... all for therapeutic purposes. Everything will look soooo bright when he goes back home, lol.

The last time I tried to enter a foreign country, I was met with threat of incarceration.

Not too far away from my home there's a huge hole in the freeway



There is road construction work there at the moment - and they found another one of those leftover WW II bombs in the ground. Turned out they couldn't disarm it - so they had to do a "controlled blow-up".
Looking at that hole in the ground (12 meters diameter, 4 meters deep) I wonder how the area would have looked with a "not-controlled blow-up"

Freeway is completely closed off for an undefined timespan. In one and a half month this is gonna be my way home from the office...

Well, basically, a "controlled" is just clearing the area, making sure nobody tries to walk in/over, then attach an explosive charge large enough to penetrate the bomb/device, lit the fuse and... runnnnnnnnn

Well, they said they somehow put the whole thing under water. And it was a remote "boom". Nobody running :p

Didn't a few people die last year in a "controlled" detonation of a wwII bomb somewhere in Europe as they misjudged the size of the bomb?

You know what I was doing in the army, don't you? Lol

My alarmclock didn't ring this morning and it really isn't a day to get to work later (much too much to do).

My co-worker's kinda stupid, she's also not interested int hinking any further that the length of her arm apoparently, when I say something she stops listening after 30 seconds or so and the has a big trend to misunderstand what I say (of course she's also very easy tricked into panic and other half-artificial 'emotions' by the media) - in other words: a completely normal girl.

Yesterday I said ,after the 'news' spread that some guy infected with Ebola landed in Hamburg to be treated there and everybody started to act like in panic if things would spread here that, I persoanlly fear another new big Influenza wave more than Ebola. Fo a row of reasons I started to list when people started to argue with me. Obviously everybody thinks I am nuts, but they don't think at least a bit about it.
And when I tried again to explain today my co-worker in all honesty said that there are 'cure meds' for Influenza, when I told her that it's a virus and yo'll get anti-viral meds with a more or less chance to really help. She doesn't even really know what the 'Spanish flu' was (but she also never heard of SARS before last winter) - ans she's working at a faiclity where people are researching about infectious diseases and half of them are virologists.

It's one thing to never heard of something before and maybe it's hard for one to understand certain things, but I absolutely hate this ignorance, this "I don't want to know, I am not interested in anything except gossip and my smartphone, no matter what it might be" attitude that's to be found everywhere now. It's making me run up the walls.


On a side note: I also said that what's goin on with the current Ebola epidemic is surely a huge desaster, but that it is due to the circumstances - with bad supply for the people, practically inexistent medical infrastructure in most areas, people being in close contact with sick or deceased relatives and friends and of course the simple fact that a lot of people live very close together in big cities - it is no wonder at all and was a desaster that made itself clear on the horizon years ago and that it would've been a similar desaster with a long row of other infectious diseases of humans.
But of course she stopped to listen at this point already (as it is seemingly much easier to picture me as a stupid callous freak who doesn't know a thing).

I agree Elyris. Over here in America we have seen the same thing. Ignorance and panic being used by some in our political system to sow fear for their own political agenda's. I also dislike people who are so wrapped up in their cell phones that they don't get their eyes looking at the world and try to find out what is really going on. What happened to real person to person communication? What happened to truth and fact finding rather than passing along rumors? Sometimes I wonder about this whole dang world...

Its not just people in politics. Look at the media. They see something and instantly blow it out of proportion to attract listeners. Scare people a little and they will flock to their TV's.

And Lrr, about people and cell phones. We're a doomed species. Some people are so connected to the device that they fail to perform other tasks. Say like shopping. (This one really bites) At the cash register, trying to pay for the merchandise. But they just can't put the phone down. You just get that overwhelming urge to:



Unfortunately, you never seem to have the proper items at hand.

Cell phones: I'm waiting for the day someone runs into a lamp post or a wall or the flowing traffic... seriously, how can you walk, staring at the little screen? Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't wanna miss my iPhone. Apart from calling and sending messages it's my calendar, notebook, mobile web access and all that. But it's a question of when and where.

Of course that means you'd have to use that strang grey stuff upstairs in your head... there are people out there I seriously doubt they have said grey stuff upstairs

I somehow have the image in my head that it's called 'smart'phone because it's taking your 'smart' from you - and the smaller the amount of smart you start with the easier you loose basic abilities.

And now to something completely different:

I am obvioulsy the most incompetent player of all times. In GW2 I have one character on 80 (levelcap) for some time now and I am slowly working on fulfilling the story arc. Before doing the last of all tasks I thought it might be legit to see all of hte rest and start the story modes of hte dungeons. I tried the first and 'easiest' some time ago and failed epically. So I thought that this time - being twice as 'strong' as I would need to be to get through it I might have a chance. And what should I say? No .. like he!! no! This is way to hard, no matter what I try and as it's written that it's the most 'fair' of all dungeons it has to be me.
Why does this have to be so hard ?

Doesn't GW2 scale you down to the leavel they're meaning you to do something? I remember getting scaled down when exploring other starter areas.

Yeah, but as far as I know it's only the health points, the armor and weapons stay the same (at least I never noticed anythig different). And in the lower areas it usually is just like that and I don't have that much problems. It's just annoying. I know that the basic idea of an mmo is to play with others, but I'm a total fail at such stuff so I normally play alone. It just sucks.
