Reading in the newspaper today that they are planning to shut down the great greenhouses in the botanical gardens here (late 19th century), because they lack the money to renovate them - 2.5 million ... which is pretty much peanuts compared to other projects that are already a total fail without any need. They don't know where to go with all the old big plants (pretty tall palms and some over 100 years old specimens of rather rare species) so they are bound to leave them there and wouldn't even be able to care for them as the greenhouses will be closed completely (not just for 'piblic') due to unsafe state of building physic. This is ridiculous. It is sad. It is annoying. I feel just frustrated in the real sense - this bad mixture of being sad, being angry and being helpless.
This world is completely nuts.

Spending nearly 600 bucks on a new mattress.

600 bucks? What is it made of?! Elephant eggs, dragon hair with a sprnkle of dried snake wings?

New wool, nature-latey, coco-latex. And it's that price with an additional lining for the surface (to protect the mattress). It's from organic materials nad hand-made though. I wanted something decent and at least one thing in my flat without any artificial substances/modern (petro-) chemical stuff on/in it.

Uh, then all these things DO justify the price. I would not mind setting my lower back on one of these

A good mattress is something very important. On average we spend a third of our life in bed - should better be comfy there then.

Mum went to the doc with the cat. He said Lil' Bee has breast-cancer. I am not happy.

How old is the cat?

She's ten years old (eleven this fall I'd say - we got her from the animal shelter and they couldn't tell us how old she's exactly).

So what are the options?

Well - for now we'll make up an oppointment for ultrasonics, so we can find out how the status really is (so if there are metastases or not). As lil'bee still shows no signs of bad health at all, she's doing fine and the only thing you can see is a swollen teat.
Most annoying: The doc already saw this 6 months ago and didn't really said a thing. We could've started with a treatment then.

Not really. I just can hope that things are not completely lost (and I hate having to hope - it makes me feel totally helpless and delivered).

One reason I was never too keen on having pets... I hate being heart broken.

But isn't it the same with humans? (Except that it's not nearly as sure that they'll make you happy and put a smile on your face practically everytime you see them.)

It's seldom as far as I could observe and often limited in length of time when it comes to that.

Animals are different. They're fair, neutral. They don't judge you like humans do and the don't expect you to be in a certain way. They accept you as you are and they love you as you are. With most (and I meand in the sense of nearly all) humans I had contact with that wasn't the case.

In the end you always loose what you love. Your family, your home and thus also your pets. It's the tragedy of life I guess. And I don't like it.

I know, it's not always easy with humans... still, I do stick to what's said in my signature, don't think that's ever gonna change.

And yeah, pets love you for completely different reasons, they don't care for beauty or status or what not... it sucks that usually humans get so much older than cats or dogs
