Morning :)
Ack... well, luckily there initially was an outing planned, so I couldn't forget about that. The outing won't happen, so that leaves me with a few free days at my hand. I won't complain...

'Morning!

Finally have a minute to check in. Spent the last 2 days on set doing FX for a film. The cable controlled Alaskan King Crab that Ato & I spent the last 2 months building performed perfectly (thanks to Ato's ingwnious control rigging). It's an (almost) exact replica of an Alaskan king crab, with 20 control wires crammed inside him fed through 12 cables to 2 control units that Ato & I operated to control all of the moving maxillipeds, eyes, antennae and claws. It took about 240 hours to sculpt, mold, cast, assemble, paint and create the controls for it. Whew! Glad that's all over with. And the prosthetics I created for a scene where a guy gets his face clawed off by his possessed date, which were rigged up with tubing (to spurt blood) and tear-away skin pieces was really gross & disturbing. We used over 2 litres of (fake) blood shooting that scene and the whole crew ended up with blood splatter on them. What an awesome 2 days! :yay:

Now we're rushing to get ready for Niagara Falls Comic Con that we have to set up for this Thursday that runs Fri-Sun. Then the weekend after that we're doing prosthetics for another film shoot, then another event the weekend after that, then we can take a little break and start designing new makeupsfor our prosthetics product line before we get busy with the Halloween season again. Ugh. Well, it's good to be busy. It passes the time until Dec.2021. :)

Afternoon

Hmm ... tell me when you drop dead from that speed (how we say in german "Selbständig zu sein bedeutet, dass man selber arbeitet und zwar ständig." translates to "Being self-employed means working for yourself all the time." more or less)

*sigh* work sucks. Especially in this weather - the few days in the year I am able to go out and not freeze to death halfway I have to spend in a badly lit and vented corner of a room, far away from any window, a small paravent in front of me, so walls is all I see. And today it was something above 29°C in there.
Money surely is a poison that we made ourselves depend upon, despite the obvious disadvantages.

Ugh - workplace without window sucks. At least that's something I have and I can open the door to the balcony. Still made it hot as hell in here yesterday.

'Morning.

Well, the 2nd film shoot has been delayed as the director's car was totalled in an accident, so that gives us time to relax a little bit. We took Sunday (Father's day) off from the workshop and went to see Rocketman, the Elton John bio-pic, then took my dad out for dinner. Excellent film (and great soundtrack). Really good makeup and hair work too (of course I noticed), as Taron Egerton plays Elton at several differnent ages/stages in Elton's life.

'Morning.

Took another day off from the workshop to relax by.... lifting and stacking sixty-four 60x60cm concrete deck tiles.
We're re-leveling the ground under the backyard patio so we can install new composite decking. Trying to get it done while the weather is still cool here (20C) before temperatures jump up into the 30's.
Summer had had a slow start over here. Lots of rain and it still drops to 12-15C at night and has only been reaching 20C during the day.

Well, at least your weather's kinda steady. Over here we're jumping from 20 to 30 and back to 20 (with lots of thunderstorms in between) in three days. And this up and down goes on for months now... my system does not like it.

'Morning

It was sunny and 26C yesterday, a really nice day.
We went to a creative exchange meeting last night (the city sponsors a meet 4 times a year for film industry people to get together and mingle/exchange contact info). There was a guy there wearing a t-shirt that said "There are no tents on Pandora" across the back. Of course I had to strike a up a conversation with him, but it turns out he isn't a crazy Avatard like us, he was just wearing a souvenir t-shirt he bought when he saw the Cirque Toruk show.

Evening :)
We still get our ups and downs. Yesterday it was wonderful warm and sunny, I've been sitting outside way past midnight. Today it's been full of thunderstorms and currently it's raining.
I just don't know about next week though... I really like Summer, but 39°C is a bit much.
