Ok, so how's this for wacky weather: yesterday we set a new record high of 15.3C, and tonight there's a winter storm warning in effect and we may get as much as 30cm of snow.

I guess winter wanted to remind us that it's not done with us yet.

Well, frost is supposed to end this weekend. Finally. So - up to 10 degrees or something next week.
I really hope that winter will be done with us then.

Downside: The pollen are already active.

Light snowfeall yesterday again. Winter and cold temperatures will stay for a while longer. You know: Up here it's about 10 degree less than where Kyi lives.
So warmer weather won't come before mid-April I suppose. It's also always cold around easter. Nothing about garden parties in the sun and searching for eggs outside here.

So... that big storm that we were supposed to get on Thursday night.... didn't happen. Temperatures were supposed to drop below zero and cause lots of snow, but it stayed at +1C so all we got was rain and a little bit of wet snow that quickly melted. But the cities 20 minutes south and east of us got 22cm of snow!

Hi Elyris, I wished you a happy birthday on Facebook yesterday, I hope you saw it. Sorry to hear that your birthday sucked, but your NB friends were thinking of you. At least you're still young! I'm hitting 48 next month. That's... way too close to 50.
But you're only as old as you feel (or act!) So I guess in a way I'm still in my teens? Although strangely enough I now get a pain in my shoulder in the exact same spot where my character in DBE's fanfic had the arrow injury. Weird.

Atokirina finished sorted through the 600 photos we had from our Disney trip. I guess I'll have to upload a few to Photobucket to be able to post them. That's still how it's done, right? It's been a long time since I've posted a picture.

And we're still working on finishing our Pandoran themed bedroom. Atokirina just ordered some special glow-in-the-dark paints so that we can paint the biolume parts of our wall sized mural so that they'll glow in the dark and under black light. I had to put the shelf-fungus shelf on the back burner for now while I work on some client FX projects.

Well, I'm chatty this morning. Time for me to get back to work.

Thanks guys. Fortunately it didn't suck as mcuh as it ould, but it was also not what other people would see as their birthday (tidying up, cleaning the whole house, cooking, baking and all for housing the family so they can annoy you with stupid talk - at least my gifts weren'r fully stupid .... I got a small pink-checkered notebook with glitter and fairies on the cover .... for my 24th birthday, so it really could've been worse).

I wasn't on fecebook in years. I just don't use that thing and back in the days I only got an account because the forum was on vacation.

Getting older is hurtful to me because I still don't have what I wish for most and the older I get the less possible it will be. And of course there is the thing with the body getting more and more ... uhm ... crunchy.

Well - weather forecast said it should be 15°C on Sunday. I am waiting for that.

Also I am considering watching Black Panther on the big screen (I still can't remember when exactly tickets got so ridiculously costly) - now I jsut have to find someone to come with me (or I go alone).

Black Panther: Do it! I really liked the movie - awesome landscape pictures in there that really should be seen on the big screen. In the beginning it had a bit the vibe of "Lion King" meets "Avatar" ;-)

Elyris, you're only 24?!?!
How old were you when you came to the Toronto meetup? Don't worry about not having what you wish for yet. When I was 24 I had just graduated college (after going to university for 3 years for a Bachelor of Science Joint Major Degree in computers and environmental science, then changing my career path and going to film college for 3 years). I was married to an emotionally abusive and controlling person for way too long, then when I was 39 I met this crazy girl on some insane movie fan site about blue people and then when I was 43 that girl and I started our own business (a dream I had for 20 years that I thought would never come to fruition), so you've got LOTS of time for your dreams to come true. They may just surprise you when you least expect it!

And yes, movies are insanely expensive. When the first of Disney's new Star Wars movies hit the theatres, the 4 of us went to see it in D-Box 3D, and 4 tickets, popcorn & drinks came to over $100!! (D-Box seats move and vibrate with the movie, so you "experience" the movie, and cost $22.99 per ticket). But there are cheaper ways to see a movie. 3D isn't necessary (unless it's a James Cameron movie!!) as most movies are still crappy 3D conversions, and we have "Cheap Tuesdays" when 2D tickets are $8.99 instead of $13.99. That's at the fancy state-of-the-art Cineplex theatres. The older theatres and the smaller competing theatres have cheaper prices, some as low as $5.

And we saw Black Panther too. It was a refreshing take on the superhero movie, and doesn't take place in the USA like every other superhero movie. Kiy is right, there is a lot of "Lion King" feel to it, and similar to Avatar with it's scenery and male/female equaltiy (the king's guard are all female and they kick ass).

We also rented Valerian and the City of 1000 Planets. Wow, what an Avatar rip off! There were scenes with a species of people that lived in harmony with nature, with so many of those scenes that were almost exactly the same as scenes in Avatar, even with similar dialogue and the look of the people (tall, thin, blue skinned people with glowing specks in their skin, the humans destroyed their planet, and the humans stole a valuable "element" from them!!) Too many similarities to be a coincidence.

@Nawm: I was 24 10 years ago when it all started. It was a memory of one of the more desastrous picks of my relatives. And I don#t see how my wish could ever be fulfilled under realistic terms. It#s more painful than most people are able to imagine.

@Kiy: As in paper, of course. But then again one christmas about 12 years ago my cousin was to get a new pyjama. Turned out he was already to large (in any way) to fit into it, so my grnadma said then and there that under these circumstances I can get it as I would fit into it. Short of clothing, money and alone in the pursuit of more repsect from anybody I from there an for years wore this dark-blue with ugly plora bears print monstrosity regularly.

One 2D Ticket here on a seat where you can actually see the screen is 12,50€. We usually bring our own water and after the popcorn got insanely expensive and decreased in quality as no one would buy it we also cut that out.

Anyways - I hope I can catch it soon (it'll be in cinema here til next wednesday for sure but I don't know after that).

Notebook: Oh... I just thought it was something you got this year and was a bit confused. It's still a weird present for a 24 year old... same as a polar-bear themed boy payama for a 22 year old girl.
12,50 is average, I guess. I paid 15, but that was balcony and 3D - in our small-town cinema where I always wonder how they can even survive; they're usually much cheaper than the big cineplexes and when I go there there are rarely many people there. Black Panther actually was one of the best visited movies I've seen there so far. Okay, it was shortly after the movie hit the theaters over here, so I guess that helped too.

Nawm: Glad to see you got the same impression I had. I won't go into too much details (as Elyris hasn't seen it yet), but there are a few camera takes that made me wonder what movie I was sitting in there.
And that made me think that I'd really, really, REALLY like to see Avatar on the big screen again. El Sigh.

Valerian: Huh yeah... that species definitely had a vibe of "Na'vi in Space", oh yeah!

Yeah .. well. I think it wasn't the wisest decision to pick someone who jsut got weaned.

I laughed a bit as Na'vi are already in space (it#s a SciFi movie after all), if you define space as 'not on earth'.
